So, I have finally decided to write about my big dream. This is that thing that makes me nervous because once you put it out in the universe you can't take it back. But here goes nothing...
I started this blog because I have a strong desire to help people. I enjoy sharing my story and telling people about my struggles with the hopes that it may impact their lives in some way for the better. The second goal with starting this blog was to somehow turn this into a business. I wasn't really sure how I was going to do that, and I am still not sure how I am going to do that, but I have always dreamed of running my own business.
Those years that my sister and I lived together as she described in the post she wrote (From the Other Side of the Twins) we dreamed of opening a bakery together. I would still love to do that with her, we just have one obstacle, we don't live in the same state.
I still have not let go of the dream of owning my own business, it just may not be a bakery. I don't know exactly how I am going to make it come to life. I want to help people and some how have a business doing what I love.
The one thing I know I need will require friends and family's help, and no, I am not going to ask you for money. What I do need help with is getting my blog out there. Whatever way I decide to turn this into a business, I need to have a good sized audience first. An audience who has subscribed to my blog (Subscribe here) and likes my social media accounts. (Links below)
So, for so long it's been hard for me to self-promote. Recently I was listening to a podcast where they were this exact issue was discussed. They pointed out how most people are hesitant to self-promote and ask the people around them for support. And they went on to talk about how flawed this thinking is. If we don't raise our talents up and ask for support from our friends and family, how do we plan on running a business and convince complete strangers that they should invest in you. So, I am putting myself out there, and asking for that support. Share a post from my blog that you love. Like my facebook page and ask your friends to like it too. Subscribe to my blog (and I promise I won't send you a bunch of junk mail) and tell your friends that they should too.
I am finding that the more people engage in my blog, the more likely I am to make a business for myself. So, nothing short of begging, help a girl out!
As part of my campaign, I am going to do a little give away, which I will share in the next day or two, if you haven't already seen it.
